Moisturizing is more important than you think.

The importance of moisturizing, we all have a certain emotional experience, but the impact of water shortage on the skin, Thermage FLX most small partners may not know. This article will analyze the effects of dehydration on your skin in detail, and understanding these knowledge can help you take better care of your skin. This article is part of a series on Moisturizing.

The metabolism of the stratum corneum requires adequate hydration.

We can know that the epidermis is divided into 5 layers from the inside to the outside, namely the basal layer, the spinous layer, the granular layer, the transparent layer and the cuticle layer. All of these cellular functions of the epidermis are generated by basal height and then advanced layer by layer from the inside out. From the basal layer → spinous layer → granular layer → transparent layer → corneum layer → keratin layer, the cell shedding occurs. It takes about 45-75 days for the epidermal layer to form between the keratin-studying cells and eventually evolve into a cell surface shedding with keratins.

It takes about 2 weeks for the stratum corneum cells to form and eventually shed in younger people, and about 37 days for people over 50. This time is very important, if the skin care is not proper, resulting in premature shedding of keratinocytes, new keratinocytes do not have time to produce, it will lead to decreased keratinocyte barrier function, it is easy to be allergic to external stimuli.

On the contrary, if the keratinocytes are not shed when shedding, the aging keratinocytes will attach to the stratum corneum, and the skin will produce dandruff, roughness, aging and even cracking. Controlling the shedding of stratum corneum cells is the "keratinase", which must be active in the case of sufficient water to be effective. Without water, the stratum corneum cannot be properly renewed, and many undiluted stratum corneum cells remain on the surface of the skin. This is also one of the reasons for dry, flaky, rough skin after dehydration. The importance of moisture is self-evident in how important moisture is to the stratum corneum.

Keratinocytes need water for their metabolism

The stratum corneum is composed of 10-30 layers of keratinocytes and intercellular lipids. Keratinocytes contain a large amount of water, which is absorbed by natural moisturizing factors (NMF) in keratinocytes and supplied to the metabolism of keratinocytes. If there is no water, the natural moisturizing factor will not be "preserved" without water, the normal metabolism of keratinocytes will be in trouble, and the normal physiological function of keratinocytes will be affected, resulting in a series of skin problems.

In addition, the keratinocytes are well hydrated, the keratinocytes are hydrated, full, and lined up, and the skin glossiness is very good. If there is no water loss, keratinocytes can begin to shrink (as shown in the figure below), the cell gap will expand, the function of the skin barrier system will be reduced, and it is easy to develop discomfort symptoms such as allergies, redness, itching, and tingling caused by the stimulation of the social environment. Water is the cornerstone of all physiological educational activities of keratinocytes, and without this cornerstone, keratinocytes have many different physiological factors that affect us.
